The holy icon is created, is given life and makes its impact by and through the Son of the living God.

Icon of the transfiguration of Jesus Christ (the Anointed).  The transfiguration of Christ is one of the highest holy days of the Eastern Orthodox Church.  “This is my beloved Son: hear him”  (Mark 9, 2-7).  Jesus Christ, dressed in white, standing upon a cloud wearing a green-blue halo or circle of light (mandorla) which surrounds the whole person. The Gloriole or big nimbus or, as shown here, in the form of a mandorla, are considered the symbols of perfection and eternity.
